“Perché QUALCUNO farebbe QUALCOSA DEL GENERE?” Ester esclamò a voce alta quando Mardocheo le disse quello che Bigthan e Teresh avevano complottato di fare al Re. Mardocheo pianse mentre guardava Ester camminare avanti e indietro.
“Devi avvisare SUBITO il Re,” lui esortò.
Ester accennò col capo. “Grazie, Mardocheo. Glielo dirò subito.”
Quando Mardocheo se ne andò, Ester si affrettò attraverso i giardini esterni verso le corti del palazzo. Arrivando al trono del Re, si sistemò la corona e si lisciò le gonne. Questo era un affare IMPORTANTE! Camminò in silenzio, ma velocemente, ed arrivò al trono del re Serse. Ester si inchinò e il re le prese la mano.
“Che cosa c'è, mia regina?” domandò.
Ester si alzò e disse, “Teresh e Bigthan stanno complottando di ucciderti, mio signore.”
Il re aggrottò le ciglia. “Come fai a saperlo, Ester?”
“Mardocheo, mio cugino, li ha sentiti parlare alla porta della città, si stanno organizzando per ucciderti domani notte.”
Il re si inclinò in avanti e domandò, “Sei SICURA di questo?”
“Si, Vostra maestà,” Ester rispose solennemente.
Il re Serse allora chiamò diverse guardie e disse loro quello che gli aveva riferito Ester. Le guardie vennero immediatamente inviate a trovare i due uomini. “Grazie, Ester, tu mi hai SALVATO la vita,” disse il re Serse, guardandola con un sorriso.
Rispondendo al sorriso, lei disse, “Prego, ma veramente il merito è di Mardocheo.”
“Per favore portagli i miei ringraziamenti, e grazie per essere venuta da me senza ritardare.”
“Prego, Vostra maestà.” Ester si inchinò e andò via rapidamente. Quando il re la congedò, lei andò immediatamente a cercare Mardocheo.
Nel frattempo, Mardocheo era seduto fuori dalle porte del palazzo che guardava le persone affaccendate nelle loro varie attività. Proprio in quel momento si sentì il forte suono di una tromba.
Mardocheo guardò lungo la strada e vide diversi uomini portare un altro uomo su una grande sedia. Era Haman, l'ufficiale di corte. Mardocheo aggrottò le ciglia. Haman aveva l'abitudine di costringere le persone ad inchinarsi a lui ma Mardocheo non lo fece MAI (Mardocheo era Ebreo e gli Ebrei non possono inchinarsi a nessun altro che a Dio). Quando Haman passò da lui, Mardocheo si sedette tranquillamente, guardando per terra. Subito dopo alzò di nuovo gli occhi quando sentì che l'uomo era passato. Pianse.
Immediatamente, qualcuno lo toccò sulla spalla da dietro. Era una giovane ragazza. “Sei Mardocheo?” domandò.
“Si, sono io,” rispose.
“La regina Ester vorrebbe vederti,” spiegò la ragazza. “Ti porto da lei.” Mardocheo si alzò e seguì la ragazza verso il palazzo.
Quando raggiunsero le stanze della regina, la ragazza lasciò Mardocheo in una stanza da solo. Dopo poco, Ester spuntò da dietro l'angolo e lo salutò con un sorriso ed un abbraccio. “Mardocheo! GRAZIE per essere venuto!”
“Sei il benvenuto, cugino mio. Di cosa hai bisogno?” domandò lui ricambiando il sorriso.
“Niente per me. Il re vorrebbe ringraziarti per avergli detto che Bigthan e Teresh avevano complottato di ucciderlo.”;
“Per favore, digli che per me e' stato un onore,” Mardocheo disse in un basso tono di voce, “ma devo andare ora.”
“Si, certo. Ciao cugino,” Ester disse, salutandolo mentre lui se ne andav.
Haman era FURIOSO! Le cose erano andate cosi lisce. Il re si preoccupava soltanto delle sue piccole feste e banchetti ed aveva lasciato ad Haman la preoccupazione di ogni cosa — che era esattamente quello che lui voleva. Ma ora, c'erano persone alle quali lui non piaceva. Mardocheo non si inginocchiava MAI, e questo cominciava a dargli fastidio e a farlo arrabbiare.
“Mi LIBERERO' di lui dunque,” Haman pensò con un ghigno cattivo sulla faccia. “Meglio ancora, è un EBREO, mi libererò di TUTTI GLI EBREI!” Lui ridacchiò al pensiero mentre si faceva strada attraverso le vie che conducevano alla sua casa.
Più tardi, quando aveva preparato un piano, Haman andò DRITTO verso il palazzo del Re e chiese di essere ricevuto. Disse al Re che c'erano delle persone nel suo territorio che non rispettavano NE' lui NE' le sue leggi e presto avrebbero causato problemi sia a lui che al suo regno.
“Chi sono queste persone?” domandò il Re Serse.
Haman si inchinò e disse, “Oh re, sono gli EBREI.”
Il re Serse era INFURIATO! Haman disse subito. “Vostra maestà, io ho un piano per liberarmi di loro.”
“Oh. DAVVERO?&4dquo; disse il re, calmandosi un pochino.
“Se ti fa piacere, o re, fa che venga emanato un decreto per DISTRUGGERLI e io mettero' 10.000 talenti (375 tonnellate) nella tesoreria reale per l'uomo che lo farà,” rispose soddisfatto, compiaciuto dei suoi piani.
Il re annuì, e tirando fuori dal suo dito l'anello del sigillo, lo porse a Haman. “Tieni i soldi, Haman, e FAI delle persone quello che vuoi,” disse solennemente.
Haman si inchinò e uscì frettolosamente dalla stanza. “Ha, ha!” ridacchiò con allegrezza. “ORA ho Mardocheo! Desidererà di aver baciato i miei PIEDI!”
Quando la notizia raggiunse Mardocheo, lui si strappò gli abiti, si mise un vestito di sacco e uscì in città, gemendo RUMOROSAMENTE e amaramente. In qualunque posto il decreto del Re arrivò, c'era gran lutto tra gli Ebrei, con digiuni, pianti e gemiti. Molti giacevano su vestiti di sacco e cenere.
Ester presto sentì il gemito e il pianto fuori dal palazzo e mandò due servi per scoprire cosa succedeva. I servi tornarono con un messaggio di Mardocheo.
“Regina Ester, Mardocheo dice che il re Serse ha firmato un decreto che dice che ogni giudeo deve morire nel 13mo giorno del 12mo mese,” disse Hathac. “Lui vuole che tu vada dal re e faccia CAMBIARE la legge,” disse l'altro uom.
Ester si mise le mani tra i capelli e cominciò a camminare avanti e indietro. “Ma se vado nella corte interna del re SENZA il suo invito, ci sarà solo un destino per me, MORTE!” Ester esclamò. Continuò a camminare avanti e indietro. Poi pensando ad alta voce disse, “L'UNICA eccezione è che il re stenda il suo scettro d'oro e risparmi la vita dell'intruso. Sono passati già 30 giorni da quando l'ultima volta venni chiamata dal re.”
Mardocheo mandò un altro messaggio, “Non pensare che siccome TU sei nella casa del re soltanto TU sfuggirai di tutti gli Ebrei. Chi lo sa? Forse tu sei stata fatta Regina proprio per un momento come QUESTO.”
Quando Ester sentì questo, penso profondamente. Mardocheo aveva ragione. Per quale ALTRO motivo lei sarebbe stata scelta regina? Forse questo era lo SCOPO di Dio nel farla diventare regina.
Ester pianse molto e rispose a Hathac. “Di' a Mardocheo di raggruppare tutti gli Ebrei e di digiunare per me. Non mangiate né bevete per tre giorni: notte e giorno. Le mie domestiche digiuneranno come voi. Quando questo sarà fatto, io andrò dal re, anche se è contro la legge,“ e finì.
Ester guardò le sue mani e disse a bassa voce, “Se morirò, MORIRO.”
PENSA!
1. Come ti sentiresti se dovessi parlare ad un re sul suo trono?
2. Come ha fatto una persona a diventare antipatica ad Haman?
3. Perché Mardocheo si strappò i vestiti?
4. Haman era cosi pieno di invidia che cercò di distruggere tutti gli Ebrei solo per pareggiare i conti con Mardocheo! Che cosa ha domandato Mardocheo ad Ester?

Dio ti può usare proprio dove ti trovi quando Lo onori e servi con tutto il tuo cuore.

“E chi sa se non sei pervenuta ad esser regina appunto per un tempo come questo?”
(Ester 4:14b).
