Donatella era PROPRIO spaventata. SAPEVA quello che doveva fare, ma non sembrava trovare il CORAGGIO di farlo. Poi si ricordò delle parole della sua maestra alla scuola domenicale: “Dio ha promesso di non lasciarti MAI. Lui ha promesso di rimanere sempre al tuo fianco.”
“Forse quello che devo fare ora è inginocchiarmi ai piedi del letto e domandare a Dio di aiutarmi,” Donatella pensò tra sé. Quando si rialzò si sentì MOLTO meglio. Sapeva che con l'aiuto di Dio, POTEVA farcela!
Ti ricordi di una volta quando avevi PAURA di fare qualcosa che DOVEVI ma non VOLEVI fare? Ti sei fermato a pregare e a domandare a Dio di aiutarti per trovare il coraggio di fare la cosa giusta?
Non sempre è FACILE ma è sempre GIUSTO fare quello che è giusto!
Ester si appoggiò su uno degli alti pilastri e pianse pesantemente. Questo era più DIFFICILE di quello che si aspettava. I tre giorni di digiuno e preghiera erano passati e lei stava per andare a trovare il re. Nessuno l'aveva fermata — neanche all'ultimo momento.
Spostò i suoi capelli dal viso e respirò profondamente. Le sue serve l'avevano resa molto bella per vedere il re, ma lei era MOLTO nervosa. Dopo tutto il re riceveva soltanto le persone che invitava lui e non aveva MAI accettato nessuno all'ultimo momento, senza che lui gli dicesse di venire. La sola eccezione poteva essere che il re avesse allungato il suo scettro dorato. Allora la vita di quella persona sarebbe stata risparmiata — ma SOLO in quel caso.
Ester si allontanò dalla sicurezza del pilastro e camminò tranquillamente nella stanza. Il re Serse si sedette sul suo trono e disse qualcosa a bassa voce ai suoi consiglieri. Quando vide Ester entrare nella stanza divenne [SUSSURRIO:] MOLTO silenzioso — anche più SILENZIOSO di come era prima.
Tutti guardarono avanti e indietro tra il re e la regina. “L'avrebbe perdonata?” si chiedevano. Ester continuò ad avvicinarsi sempre di più al trono. Chiuse gli occhi per un momento e respirò profondamente. [PAUSA]
Un grande sorriso si aprì sul viso del re. Ester si sentì sollevata mentre lui alzava maestosamente il suo scettro dorato. Ester lo raggiunse e in maniera molto aggraziata toccò la cima dello scettro.
“Che cosa desideri, regina Ester? Qualunque cosa tu voglia, l'avrai, anche se fosse la META' del mio regno,” disse il re Serse con uno sguardo incoraggiante.
Ester inghiottì e disse di corsa, “Mio signore, se fa piacere al re, vorreste Voi e Haman venire ad un banchetto che ho preparato oggi per voi due?”
Il re Serse sorrise ancora di più ed Ester ricambiò. “Penso che funzionerà,” pensò tra sé.
Il re rivolgendosi ai suoi aiutanti disse, “Dite ad Haman di muoversi a prepararsi e di fare come aveva detto Ester.”
Così il re ed Haman andarono al banchetto di Ester. Il re Serse sapeva che Ester voleva domandargli un favore, così le chiese ancora di cosa si trattasse. “Mia Regina, che cosa desideri? Io te lo darò, anche se fosse META' del mio regno.”
Ester rispose, “Per favore vieni con Haman ad un altro banchetto che io preparerò per voi domani. Allora ti dirò quello che voglio.”
Haman era orgoglioso di essere stato invitato a entrambi i banchetti — solo lui e il re — ma, mentre lasciava il palazzo, vide Mardocheo appena fuori dalle porte della città che CONTINUAVA a rifiutare di inginocchiarsi. A lui questo disturbò MOLTO, ma non disse niente.
Quando tornò a casa, Haman chiamò i suoi amici e la sua famiglia, e si vantò della sua posizione sociale. “Il re mi ha promosso sopra a tutti i principi e servi,” si vantò. “La regina Ester ha invitato solamente ME e il re al banchetto con lei questa sera, e sono invitato ancora DOMANI notte.”
Ma c'era di più che del vanto. Haman arrivò a casa MOLTO arrabbiato riguardo Mardocheo, l'Ebreo, che continuava a stuzzicarlo. Lui continuò a lamentarsi del fatto che Mardocheo non si inginocchiava MAI davanti a lui e RIFIUTAVA di alzarsi e dargli il rispetto che lui pensava di meritarsi.
Poi sua moglie suggerì. “Costruisci una forca alta venticinque metri e domani domanda al re il permesso di impiccare quell'uomo! Allora potrai essere felice al banchetto della regina.”
Haman era COSI' compiaciuto con questo suggerimento che ordinò di costruire la forca PROPRIO il giorno dopo.
Quella notte, il re non riusciva a dormire. Chiamò i suoi servi per farsi portare il libro di storia che raccontava gli eventi più importanti del suo regno. Mentre i servi leggevano al re, lui notò la volta che Mardocheo salvò la sua vita, perché lui era stato quello che aveva svelato il complotto attraverso Ester.
“Stop! Aspetta un momento!” comandò il re Serse. “Come è stato ricompensato Mardocheo per questo?”
“Mio signore, non abbiamo fatto niente per lui,” risposero i servi al re.
PENSA!
1. Cosa pensi che il re Serse farà per ricompensare Mardocheo?
2. Che cosa sarebbe successo se il re non avesse alzato lo scettro dorato ad Ester?
3. Sei mai stato geloso di qualcun altro?
4. La tua gelosia ha fatto del male a TE o a LORO?
5. Racconta di una volta nella quale hai avuto paura. Come ti ha aiutato Dio?

Quando hai paura, puoi piangere a Dio e Lui ti aiuterà.
