Il figlio della promessa

Charlie saltò su e giù ansiosamente. Questo era il giorno che aveva aspettato tanto. “Posso tenerlo? Per favore. Posso? Posso? Voglio tenere il bambino.”
Il papà lo portò giù, lo accarezzo amorevolmente sulla testa e gli disse di andarsi a sedere sulla sedia grande. La mamma gli pose dolcemente il fratellino fra le braccia. Charlie guardò le piccole mani del bambino e contò tutte le sue minuscole dita. Mentre teneva teneramente il bambino, pensava a quanto fosse importante essere il fratello maggiore.
Abrahamo è stato un uomo che ha amato molto Dio, gioiva nel pregare e parlava con Lui ogni giorno. Egli faceva del suo meglio per obbedirgli. In cambio Dio fù molto generoso con lui. Dio benedisse Abrahamo dandogli molta terra. Infatti Dio disse ad Abrahamo di guardare in ogni direzione, il più lontano che poteva, e tutto ciò che riusciva a vedere sarebbe stato suo. Dio benedì Abrahamo con grandi greggi di pecore e greggi di bestiame, con molti servi che lo aiutarono ad aver cura della terra e degli animali. Dio benedì Abrahamo cosi tanto da farlo diventare l'uomo più ricco che esisteva a quei tempi, nel mondo.
MA…c'era una cosa che Abrahamo desiderava più di ogni altra cosa al mondo….
…Abrahamo voleva che sua moglie, Sarah, avesse un bambino.
Lui ricordava la notte in cui Dio gli parlò dicendogli: “Abrahamo, guarda le stelle e vedi se le puoi contare.”
Abrahamo le guardò, ma naturalmente non potè contarle tutte, ce n'erano tantissime nel cielo e no c'era modo di poterle contare tutte!
Poi Dio gli disse, “I tuoi discendenti saranno come le stelle, saranno così tanti che nessuno li potrà contare.”
Che meravigliosa promesse era questa e Abrahamo credeva che si sarebbe avverata perchè DIO FA CIÒ CHE DICE. Ma la promessa si sarebbe avverata mooolto tempo dopo. “Quando mai si avvererà?” si domandava meravigliato.
Lui sorrideva ricordando i tempi in cui il Signore gli era apparso e gli aveva promesso che lui e Sarah avrebbero avuto un bambino, che sarebbe diventato padre di molte nazioni e che tra i suoi discendenti ci sarebbero stati die Re.
Abrahamo sorrideva perché Sarah aveva già novanta anni, ed era troppo vecchia per avere figli. Era una notizia talmente meravigliosa che lo faceva ridere. Inoltre pensava: Noi siamo troppo vecchi per poterlo avere. “Quando succederà?”
Ricordava anche che no molto tempo prima, gli ospiti che erano venuti nella sua tenda, gli dissero di nuovo che Sarah avrebbe avuto un bambino. In quel tempo, Sarah rise, perché non poteva credere di poter avere un bambino, specialmente alla sua età.
Abrahamo e Sarah discutevano spesso su come sarebbe stato meraviglioso avere un bambino. Sarah passava molto del suo tempo a fare calde coperte e comodi abitini da neonato. Abrahamo fece fare ad uno dei suoi servi una piccola culla. Erano sopraffatti dalla gioia e dall’eccitazione per i preparativi per l'arrivo del loro nuovo bambino.
E successe proprio come Dio aveva promesso! Ad Abrahamo e Sarah nacque un bambino, piccolo e carino. Abrahamo lo chiamò Isacco, che significa “risata. Il bambino portò loro gioia e sorrisi e loro lo amarono moltissimo. Essi furono molto contenti che Dio aveva mantenuto la Propria promessa.

2. Che cosa disse Dio ad Abrahamo di contare?
3. Quanti discendenti Dio promise ad Abrahamo?
4. Perché Sarah pensava che lei non avrebbe potuto avere figli?
5. Che nome diede Abrahamo al bambino?
6. Che cosa significa “Isacco”?
RICORDA
Dio mantiene sempre le sue promesse.
UN VERSETTO DA IMPARARE
“…e in te saranno benedette le famiglie della terra” (Genesi 12:3).
UNA ALTERNATIVA AL VERSETTO DA IMPARARE:
“Ho pazientemente aspettato il SIGNORE, ed egli si è chinato su di me e ha ascoltato il mio grido” (Salmi 40:1).
“Vi è forse qualcosa che sia troppo difficile per il SIGNORE?…” (Genesi 18:14).
“Nella mia angoscia invocai il SIGNORE, gridai al mio Dio. Egli udì la mia voce dal suo tempio, il mio grido giunse a lui, ai suoi orecchi” (Salmi 18:6).

Caro Dio, grazie per tutte le promesse che tu ci dai nella
Tua Parola la Bibbia. Aiutaci a ricordare
che anche se qualcosa può sembrare impossibile,
niente è troppo difficile per Te e Tu mantieni sempre
e Tue promesse.
