Charlie het opgewonde op en af gespring. Dit was die dag waarvoor hy SOOOO lank gewag het. “Mag ek hom vashou? ASSEBLIEF? Kan ek? Kan ek? Ek wil die baba vashou.”
Pa het afgebuk en hom oor die kop gevryf en vir hom gesê om in die groot stoel te gaan sit. Ma het sy nuwe baba boetie versigtig in sy arms neergesit. Charlie het na die baba se klein handjies gekyk en al sy klein toontjies getel. Terwyl hy die baba liefdevol vasgehou het, het hy gedink hoe wonderlik dit was om 'n ouboet te wees.
Abraham was 'n man wat God baie liefgehad het. Hy het dit geniet om tot God te bid en elke dag met Hom te gesels. Hy het sy bes gedoen om God te gehoorsaam. Op sy beurt, was God tevrede met Abraham. God het Abraham geseën deur vir hom baie grond te gee. Trouens — God het vir Abraham gesê om in elke rigting so ver as wat hy kon sien, te kyk, en daardie grond sou syne wees. God het Abraham geseën met groot troppe skape en kuddes beeste. Hy het Abraham geseën met baie dienaars om te help sorg vir die grond en die diere. God het Abraham so baie geseën dat hy die rykste man in die wêreld geword het in daardie tyd.
MAAR…daar was steeds een ding wat Abraham meer as enigiets anders in die HELE wêreld wou gehad het….
…Abraham wou hê dat sy vrou, Sara, 'n SEUN moes hê.
Hy het die nag onthou toe God met hom gepraat en gesê het, “Abraham! Kyk op na die sterre en kyk of jy dit kan tel.”
Abraham het opgekyk, maar natuurlik was dit vir hom onmoontlik om al die sterre te tel. Daar was so baie regdeur die hele hemel. Daar was geen manier dat almal getel sou kon word nie!
Toe het God gesê, “Jou nageslag sal soos die sterre wees. Daar sal so baie wees, dat hulle nie getel sal kan word nie.”
DIT was 'n wonderlike belofte en Abraham het GEGLO dat dit sou gebeur, omdat GOD GESÊ HET DIT SOU. Maar daardie belofte was SOOOOOO lank gelede gemaak. “WANNEER sal dit ooit gebeur?” het hy gewonder.
Hy het die keer onthou wat hy gelag het. Die Here het aan hom verskyn en belowe dat hy en Sara, sy vrou, 'n kind sou hê, en dat hy die vader van baie nasies sou wees, en dat sommige van sy nasate selfs KONINGS sou wees.
Hy het gelag omdat Sara reeds NEGENTIG JAAR OUD was, wat HEELTEMAL te oud was om 'n baba te hê! Weer het hy gewonder, “Ons is nou selfs ouer as wat ons toe was. WANNEER sal dit ooit gebeur?”
Hy het ook onthou van die tyd nie te lank gelede nie, toe die besoekers by sy tent opgedaag en hom vertel het dat Sara 'n seun sou hê. Daardie keer was dit SARA wat gelag het, omdat sy net nie kon glo dat sy ooit 'n baba sou kon hê nie, veral nie op HAAR ouderdom nie.
Abraham en Sara het dikwels gepraat oor hoe wonderlik dit sou wees om 'n seun te hê. Sara het baie tyd daaraan bestee om warm komberse en snoesige babaklere te maak. Abraham het een van sy diensknegte 'n klein wiegie laat maak. Hulle was oorweldig met blydskap en opgewondenheid, terwyl hulle beplan en voorberei het vir die koms van hulle nuwe baba.
Dit het gebeur NET SOOS GOD BELOWE HET. 'n Oulike klein baba seuntjie was vir Abraham en Sara gebore. Abraham het die baba Isak genoem, wat lag beteken. Die baba het baie blydskap en gelag vir Abraham en Sara gebring. Hulle het baba Isak baie, baie liefgehad. Hulle was so bly dat God sy belofte nagekom het.

2. Wat het God vir Abraham gesê om te tel?
3. Hoeveel nasate het God vir Abraham belowe?
4. Waarom het Sara gedink sy sou nooit 'n baba hê nie?
5. Wat het Abraham die baba genoem?
6. Wat beteken die naam “Isak”?
ONTHOU
God kom altyd sy beloftes na.
'N VERS OM TE LEER
“…in jou sal al die geslagte van die aarde geseën word” (Génesis 12:3).
ALTERNATIEWE VERSE OM TE LEER:
“Ek het die HERE lank verwag, en Hy het Hom na my toe neergebuig en my hulpgeroep gehoor” (Psalm 40:2).
“Sou iets vir die HERE te wonderbaar wees?…” (Génesis 18:14).
“Toe ek benoud was, het ek die HERE aangeroep, en ek het tot my God geroep om hulp; Hy het my stem uit sy paleis gehoor, en my hulpgeroep voor sy aangesig het in sy ore gekom” (Psalm 18:7).
PRAKTIESE TOEPASSING
Dink aan 'n tyd toe dit vir jou moeilik was om te wag, soos vir Kersfees of vir jou verjaarsdag, of vir wanneer iemand van wie jy baie hou, kom kuier. Abraham en Sara moes 25 jaar wag vir Isak om gebore te word. Om te wag beteken nie 'n “nee” van God nie.
Ons moet leer om geduldig te wees en te wag vir God se tydsberekening. God verhoor wanneer jy bid. Soms sê Hy: “Ja.” Soms sê Hy: “Nee,” maar ander kere sê Hy: “Wag.” Daar is kere wat Hy wil hê ons moet wag vir 'n beter tyd.
Ons moet leer om geduldig op God te wag. Ons kan Hom vertrou, selfs al gebeur dinge nie so vinnig as wat ons dink dit moet nie. Moet nooit vergeet dat God sal doen wat Hy belowe het. Hy kom altyd sy woord na.
As dit lyk of God baie lank vat om jou gebed te verhoor, wonder jy dalk of jy regtig vir Hom belangrik is. Jy is kosbaar vir God. Vra Hom om jou te help om aan Hom getrou te wees en jou te leer om Hom te vertrou selfs in tye wanneer dit lyk of Hy nie luister nie.
Volgende keer as jy terneergedruk voel, onthou Abraham en Sara, en herinner jouself daaraan dat geloof en belofte saamgaan. Nie net sal God sy beloftes nakom nie, maar Hy sal ook vir jou alles gee wat jy nodig het om te doen wat Hy wil hê jy moet doen. Maak nie saak hoe lank jy dalk moet wag nie, jy kan God vertrou om sy plan vir jou lewe uit te voer.

dat selfs as iets onmoontlik lyk,
sal niks vir U te moeilik wees nie en U sal altyd
U beloftes nakom.
