TREASURE BOX

What You Need:

A shoe box or other small box
Gold wrapping paper

What To Do:

1. Cut a hole in the top of the box, large enough for a child's hand.
2. Cover the box with gold wrapping paper.
3. Put scripture verses about wisdom into the box (see below).
4. Have each child (one at a time) pull a treasure (verse) out of the box and read it to the class.
5. Ask the child to try to explain what the verse means.
(TIP: For very young children, the teacher may need to read the verse and help explain).

Wisdom Verses:

“O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches” (Psalm 104:24).

“Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his” (Daniel 2:20).

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7).

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock” (Matthew 7:24).

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).

“For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6).

“He layeth up wisdom for the righteous” (Proverbs 2:7).

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God” (James 1:5).

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and he that getteth understanding” (Proverbs 3:13).

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10).

“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it” (Proverbs 8:11).

“For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight, wisdom, and knowledge, and joy” (Ecclesiastes 2:26).

“How much better is it to get wisdom than gold” (Proverbs 16:16).
