Un Ospite Speciale a Cena
La storia di Maria e Marta

Luca e Matteo aspettavano impazientemente alla finestra coi loro nasini schiacciati contro il vetro. I loro cuginetti sarebbero arrivati da un momento all’altro.
Avevano pulito accuratamente le loro camerette, assicurandosi di avere tolto la polvere da ogni angolino. Il letto era stato rifatto con lenzuola lavate di fresco. Avevano anche raccolto in giardino un mazzolino di fiori da mettere in un vaso. Tutto era pronto per i loro ospiti speciali.
Udirono l’auto entrare nel vialetto e si precipitarono fuori ad incontrare i cuginetti, i quali si stavano arrampicando sui sedili per uscire dal portellone posteriore. Con sorrisi e risatine, aiutarono volenterosamente a portare dentro le valigie e mostrarono ai cuginetti dove avrebbero alloggiato. Come si sarebbero divertiti durante la settimana!
Gesù passava un sacco di tempo, spostandosi di città in città, insegnando alla gente sull’amore di Dio e su come dovevano comportarsi gli uni verso gli altri. A qualcuno non piacevano le parole di Gesù, perciò respingeva Lui ed i suoi insegnamenti. Altri, invece, amavano moltissimo Gesù e Lo seguivano da un posto all’altro, ascoltando attentamente ogni Sua parola.
Quando Marta udì che Gesù stava per passare dalla città di Betania, fu piena d’entusiasmo! Amava Gesù così tanto, e sperava di poter passare un po’ di tempo con Lui. Indossò il vestito migliore che aveva ed uscì di corsa in strada ad incontrare Gesù.
“Ti prego, Ti prego, vieni da noi!” lo implorò. “So che sarai stanco ed affamato dopo una giornata così lunga. Mi piacerebbe tanto preparare una buona cenetta per Te. Verrai, allora?”
L’insistenza di Marta fu premiata: Gesù acconsentì ad andare a cena a casa sua. Marta era fuori di sé dalla gioia. Corse subito a casa a preparare per il suo Ospite Speciale.
“Maria, Maria!” gridò. “Indovina chi viene da noi oggi!”
Quando Maria, che era la sorella di Marta, seppe che si trattava di Gesù, fu piena di gioia quanto Marta. Insieme cominciarono a riordinare alla svelta la casa per renderla presentabile al loro Ospite Speciale.
Marta iniziò a preoccuparsi un po’. “C’è così tanto da fare. Come potremo mai fare tutto prima che arrivi Gesù?” si domandò. Si occupò di tutte quelle piccole cose che bisognava fare, come spolverare e mettere in ordine le stanze. Poi andò in cucina a preparare qualcosa di speciale.
“Vediamo un po’ . . . farina . . . zucchero . . . fichi di stagione . . .,” pensava ad alta voce. “Posso fare una deliziosa torta di fichi come dessert.”
Mentre era tutta indaffarata in cucina, sentì delle voci provenire dall’esterno. “E’ Gesù!” disse con eccitazione. “Devo andare ad accoglierlo.”
Si concesse una piccola pausa dal lavoro in cucina per salutare e dare il benvenuto in casa loro a Gesù. Quindi se ne tornò a finire di cucinare.
Il tavolo era apparecchiato con la tovaglia migliore. Tutti i cibi erano perfettamente sistemati nei piatti. Marta era così occupata col lavoro da non avere il tempo di stare con Gesù. Ad un certo punto si accorse che stava facendo lei tutto il lavoro, mentre sua sorella Maria stava nella camera accanto ad ascoltare Gesù, senza far nulla per aiutarla.
Marta continuava ad affaccendarsi per preparare una cena perfetta e, allo stesso tempo, diventava sempre più arrabbiata con Maria. “Non è per niente giusto che lei stia lì a spassarsela parlando con Gesù, mentre io sono qui a lavorare come una matta,” pensò. “Adesso basta! Andrò di là a sistemare la cosa!”
Con un falso sorriso sul volto entrò nell’altra stanza. “Gesù, potresti dire a Maria di venire in cucina? Penso di poter essere utile anch’io, di qua,” disse, più gentilmente che poteva.
Gesù si voltò verso di lei con uno sguardo severo e la rimproverò amorevolmente. “Marta, Marta. Sei così impegnata a cercare di fare tutto bene. Ti stai procurando troppi guai. Ti stai preoccupando troppo.
“Guarda come Maria se ne sta qui a godere della mia compagnia. Lei ha scelto la cosa migliore, e non le permetterò di lasciarmi.”
Marta ritornò tranquillamente in cucina per finire al più presto possibile i suoi compiti, così che la cena potesse essere servita e lei pure potesse godersi del tempo col suo amico Gesù.
RICORDA: Prendi del tempo ogni giorno per amare Gesù ed ascoltare le Sue parole.
