Pietro era alla finestra, con il volto schiacciato contro il vetro gelido, guardando i fiocchi di neve che con grazia scendevano nell'aria ghiacciata di gennaio. “Tutti vanno dappertutto tranne me,” mormorò con labbra serrate. “Solo perché sono il più piccolo, NON faccio MAI NIENTE di speciale,” si lamentò.
I suoi fratelli maggiori erano usciti con il gruppo dei giovani, lasciando Pietro come al solito.
Un Regazzo, un Gigante, una Fionda
Davide guardò le facce impaurite che lo circondavano. Perché tutti avevano PAURA di quell'enorme bullo? Dio era dalla loro parte, perciò come mai avevano paura? Golia gli stava facendo fare una figura da STUPIDI! E nessuno stava facendo NIENTE!
Davide era appena venuto a vedere cosa stavano facendo i suoi tre fratelli maggiori in battaglia, ed a consegnare il cibo che il padre gli aveva mandato. Pensava che avrebbe visto i soldati combattere.
Ma lì, dall'altra parte della vallata, c'era un GIGANTE ENORME. E, naturalmente, nessuno voleva combattere con lui perché era…beh, era GIGANTE! Perciò i suoi fratelli ed il resto dell'esercito israelita stava lì ed aveva un aspetto molto, molto impaurito. Davide però non sembrava impressionato. Bisognava fare qualcosa!
Si avvicinò ad uno degli uomini e chiese, “Mi scusi, ma non c'è nessuno che vuole combattere con quell'uomo?”
Il soldato lo guardò dall'alto in basso. “Chi Golia?”
Davide annuì. “Sì, qualcuno andrà a combattere con lui sì o no?”
“Stai scherzando? E' troppo grande!” rispose il soldato. “In un attimo farebbe a pezzetti anche il nostro soldato più forte! NESSUNO andrà a combattere con QUEL gigante.”
Davide lo guardò con un sorriso. “Allora ci andrò IO a combattere!”
L'uomo si mise a ridere, “Oh, ma tu sei soltanto un ragazzino! Difatti, adesso dovresti essere a casa. I tuoi fratelli hanno avuto il loro cibo, perciò vai via!”
Davide si girò e se ne andò, cercando di ignorare le risate e le beffe della folla.
Ma che se ne importavano se lui ERA solo un ragazzo? Anche Dio era dalla sua parte! Ma doveva ritornare a casa e non sembrava che alcuno lo volesse ascoltare.
Stava quasi per lasciare l'accampamento, quando un uomo corse verso di lui. “Scusa. Sei tu Davide?” chiese.
“Sì, sono io. C'è qualcosa che non va?” gli chiese David.
“Sì, vieni con me, per favore,” rispose l'uomo, prendendo il ragazzo per un braccio. Poi condusse Davide in una grande tenda al cui interno c'era il Re Saul seduto sul trono regale.
Davide fece un passo in avanti e chiese rispettosamente, “Signore, voleva vedermi?”
Il re guardò il ragazzino che gli stava davanti. “Uh, sì. Vai a prendere l'uomo che ha detto di voler combattere contro Golia.”
Davide sorrise orgogliosamente. “Sono io!”
Il Re Saul lo guardò in modo strano e Davide smise di sorridere.
“C'è qualcosa che non va, Re Saul?” chiese timidamente.
“SI! TU non puoi combattere contro Golia! Non sei altro che un ragazzino. Ti farebbe a pezzi in un secondo,” sbraitò Re Saul.
“Ma Dio è dalla mia parte, non è vero?
“Lui mi proteggerà.
“Non devi preoccuparti, o re.
“Andrà tutto bene. Te lo prometto,” disse Davide.
“Una volta, quando sorvegliavo le pecore di mio padre, un leone cercò di mangiare uno degli agnellini. Io l'ho ucciso con le mie stesse mani. Un'altra volta, un orso ha cercato di mangiare le pecore di mio padre. Ho ucciso anche quello.”
“Se vuoi andare, avrai bisogno di un'armatura,” disse il Re facendo segno ad una guardia di avvicinarsi. “Prendimi l'armatura reale,” disse alla guardia.
Quando ritornò, il Re Saul comandò alla guardia di farla indossare a Davide. Davide rimase in piedi, cercando di non cadere con quell'aggeggio. Era pesante. MOLTO pesant.
“Um, Re Saul?” mormorò Davide da dentro quell'armatura pesantissima.
“Sì?”rispose lui, cercando di mettere la spada in mano a Davide. Davide la fece cadere.
“Questa roba è TROPPO pesante. Non la posso indossare. Starò più comodo senza, Re Saul.”
Vedendolo non troppo convinto, Davide disse, “Re Saul, Dio è dalla mia parte. Io non ho paura. Per favore, permettimi di andare a combattere contro il gigante.” Re Saul tornò a sedersi sul trono e fece un gran sospiro.
“Va bene. Puoi andare,” disse. “Ma per favore sta attento. Il Signore sarà con te.”
Davide sorrise e, uscendo dalla tenda, disse, “GRAZIE!”
Presto raggiunse la vallata dalla cui sommità il gigante spadroneggiava.
Davide si girò e vide un piccolo ruscello.
Vi si avvicinò e prese cinque pietre lisce.
Le mise nella sua fionda e si avvicinò al posto in cui si trovava il gigante.
“Cos'è questo?” gridò Golia ad alta voce. “Gli Israeliti mi mandano un RAGAZZO per combattere? Darò la tua pelle in pasto agli uccelli!”
Davide rabbrividì al pensiero, ma poi inarcò la schiena e sollevò il ciglio. “Ma Dio è dalla mia parte. Non mi puoi far male! Ed io NON ho paura!”
Golia si mise a ridere e Davide iniziò a roteare la sua fionda in aria, prima lentamente ed in seguito sempre più velocemente. Golia vide quello che stava cercando di fare ed iniziò a camminare verso di lui.
Fu allora che LANCIO!! Davide scagliò la fionda ed il sasso rotolò per aria, dritto verso la fronte di Golia e BOOM!! Gli occhi di Davide si spalancarono mentre il gigante strabuzzò e cadde pesantemente a terra! Era morto ed Israele era salvo!!
Davide aveva vinto la battaglia per gli Israeliti!!
RICORDA:
Non dire a Dio che hai un grande problema.
Dì al tuo problema che hai un grande Dio!
PENSA!
1. La nostra statura importa veramente a Dio?
2. A Lui interessa se siamo bassi o alti, grassi o magri?
3. Dio potrebbe usare TE per fare qualcosa di speciale per Lui?
4. Pensa a qualche volta in cui hai avuto veramente bisogno dell'aiuto di Dio.
VERSETTO BIBLICO DA IMPARARE A MEMORIA
“Io posso ogni cosa in Cristo che mi fortifica”
(Filippesi 4:13).
PREGHIAMO
