Lo Vo-o-o-glio!

“Voglio la bambola con i capelli che crescono, e anche i suoi vestitini,
e un nuovo paio di pattini,
e un telefono vero,
e la film di Cenerentola, un profumo,
e delle scarpe nuov . . .
. . . OH, SI. . .
Voglio la macchina, lo studio, la casa delle bambole,
una borsetta nuova,
e . . . ”
“ASPETTA UN MOMENTO! Adesso tocca a me dire quello che voglio!”
“Voglio una macchinina con le ruote cingolate, una bici con il cambio a 12, un mostro,
la stazione spaziale degli alieni
un tavolo da ping pong,
un trampolino enorme,
un costume da super-eroe,
e un gioco per la Play Station,
e . . .”
HEY! Non mi hai lasciato finire. Io voglio . . .
Oh mamma! Potrebbe durare tutto il giorno! Questo è ciò che succede in casa dei Rossi. Ogni qualvolta arriva un nuovo catalogo o un nuovo giornalino pubblicitario per posta, i bambini gli si buttano sopra e scelgono tutto quello che pensano di volere.
Cosa pensi che accada quando ricevono alcune di queste cose?
Pensi che apprezzeranno quello che hanno ricevuto?
Pensi che saranno felici?
Quanto durerà quella felicità?
Acan e la sua famiglia vivevano in una tenda. Sì, ti potrebbe suonare strano, perché la tua famiglia e le persone che conosci probabilmente vivono in appartamento o al massimo in una villetta. Ma ai tempi di Acan, vivere in una tenda era abbastanza comune.
Acan aveva tutto quello di cui aveva bisogno.
Aveva la sua tenda.
Aveva un gregge di pecore che gli davano lana per farsi i vestiti.
Aveva tanto bestiame che gli procurava latte e carne.
Aveva una moglie e dei figli che gli volevano bene.
Acan poteva essere molto felice.
Ma non lo era.Acan — voleva — di più.
Un giorno, Acan vide delle cose molto belle. Vide:
un bellissimo vestito proveniente da Babilonia,
un lingotto d'oro,
ed alcune monete d'argento.
Guardando quelle cose, pensò, “Oh quanto mi piacerebbe averle. I miei vestiti sono fatti di lana di pecora. Quel vestito di Babilonia è sicuramente molto più bello dei vestiti che posseggo io. Certamente mi starebbe bene addosso. E se avessi quell'oroe quelle monete d'argento, potrei di sicuro comprarmi tutto quello che voglio."
Acan ripensò più volte a tutto il fatto. E più ci pensava, e più gli piaceva. Il vestito nuovo e tutti quei soldi erano troppo appetitosi per lasciarli scappare. Non poteva lasciarli lì. Dopo tutto, se non li avesse presi lui, li avrebbe potuti prendere qualcun altro, giusto? Alla fine prese una decisione. Acan raccolse l'oro e le monete d'argento e li mise al sicuro, poi si mise sulle spalle il vestito costoso, per non farlo sporcare né aggrinzire. Acan era così felice mentre ritornava a casa. Quasi non poteva credere alla fortuna che gli era capitata.
Portati a casa i suoi tesori, Acan iniziò a pensare sempre di più a quello che aveva fatto. Pensò, “Nessuno dei miei amici ha un vestito bello come il mio. E' così speciale che se lo indossassi, tutti si chiederebbero dove l'ho preso. Non posso dir loro che l'ho trovato e l'ho rubato.” Poi pensò all'oro e all'argento. “Se portassi quest'oro al mercato e cercassi di comprare delle cose nuove, la gente si chiederebbe dove ho trovato quest'oro. Soltanto i ricchi possiedono oro ed io non sono ricco. Non posso usare neanche l'argento, perché non proviene dal mio paese, e tutti si accorgerebbero subito che l'ho rubato. Cosa faccio adesso?”
Acan iniziò a scavare un fosso. Lo fece molto profondo nel terreno della sua tenda. In quel fosso, nascose il vestito, l'oro, e l'argento. “Ah, qui starà al sicuro!” pensò. “E' sotto terra, e nessuno saprà mai quello che ho fatto.”
Il problema era che Acan aveva dimenticato Dio. Acan aveva dimenticato che Dio vede tutto e che sapeva quello che aveva fatto. Alla fine, Acan fu punito per il peccato che aveva commesso.

2. Se vedi qualcosa che ti sembra non appartenga a nessuno, pensi sia giusto appropriartene?
3. Cos'avrebbe dovuto fare Acan, dopo aver visto il vestito, l'oro e le monete d'argento?

Aiutaci ad imparare ad essere contenti di quello che abbiamo
e non essere tentati a rubare per procurarci le cose che vorremmo.
Aiutaci a ricordare che tu ci guardi sempre,
ed aiutaci a fare solo le cose che ti piacciono.
