The Children's Chapel A Ministry of the Missing Link Treasure Hunt by Sophia Prinsloo Text Version | Afrikaans Treasure Hunt Having a treasure hunt with Bible verses as clues can be lots of fun and can be held indoors or outdoors or both. For an indoor treasure hunt, Bible references can be written as clues on scraps of paper and hidden in different places. The kids can take turns finding the verses in the Bible and reading it to everyone to find the next clue. For an outdoor treasure hunt, a treasure map can be provided if the area is large. Extra markers like a colorful ribbon or arrows without clues can be provided to keep the kids on track. Bible references, if a Bible is provided, or entire Bible verses as clues can be placed in small matchboxes or small plastic containers (like the ones they use for pills). If needed, pieces of rope can be used to tie the containers to branches and so forth. Clues can also be hidden in water, like a small pool, a large wash basin, or even a river, dam or lake (depending on the children's age), by putting the clue in a bottle, tying it to a rope, and letting it float or sink with a weight attached. Make the treasure chest worthwhile by including lots refreshments and maybe a small gift wrapped in glittering paper for each kid.
