Tuo padre non ti ha mai chiesto di andare in qualche posto, e quel posto era realmente l'ultimo posto al mondo dove tu avresti voluto andare? E comprendere di non avere nessun'altra scelta che quella di andare? Obbedisci con gioia oppure tenti di rendere infelice la vita di tuo padre?
Talvolta, Dio ci chiede di andare in qualche posto, dove piuttosto non vorremmo andare. Non pensate che sia meglio obbedirGli con GIOIA e fare solo quello che Lui vuole?
“Ma io non voglio!” esclamò forte Ester.
“Tu DEVI, Ester. E' stato chiesto che ogni ragazza del regno, che abbia oltre i quattordici anni s'iscriva,” gli spiegò suo cugino Mardocheo. I genitori di Ester erano morti quando lei era piccola e lui l'aveva adottata come figlia.
Ester incrociò le braccia e disse, “Non voglio diventare Regina. Sono molto felice di stare dove sono. In ogni modo, ci sono molte ragazze iscritte al concorso di bellezza. Non me ne importa niente.”
“Ester, tu DEVI iscriverti, e così è DECISO. Inoltre, non sai se sarai scelta. Ci sono molte altre ragazze iscritte, tu sei una tra le tante,” disse Mardocheo. “E' un ordine del Re.”
Ester attraversò stancamente la stanza e iniziò a sparecchiare la tavola. “Vado, ma non mi piacerà.”
Mardocheo sospirò. “Non devi comportarti così, Ester. Dovresti essere contenta. Voglio che tu faccia del tuo meglio, se non per il Re, fallo per me. Ti prego?”
La ragazza gli sorrise. “Va bene, Mardocheo, andrò. E andrò con gioia.”
Mardocheo le sorrise riconoscente. “Grazie. Ora vai a letto. Devi partire di buon mattino e hai bisogno di riposare.”
Ester dette un abbraccio al cugino. “Buona Notte.”
Lui la strinse per le spalle e le disse, “Buona notte, Ester.”
Mentre Ester stava per lasciare la stanza, Mardocheo la chiamò e le disse, “Aspetta Ester. C'è un'altra cosa ancora.”
Ester si fermò e disse, “Si?”
“Non devi permettere a nessuno di sapere che sei Ebrea. Hai capito?”
“Si ho capito. Buona notte.” Annuì per risposta.
“Buona notte,” disse e lei andò.
Quando Ester fu a letto, sotto le coperte, iniziò a pensare a quanto era successo. Dover passare un anno intero al Palazzo, a prepararsi per vedere il Re, le faceva un po' paura. Eppure, in qualche modo, era eccitata. Ma se fosse stata scelta per essere la nuova Regina per il Re? Ester rabbrividì. Non voleva che accadesse.
Quando venne il nuovo giorno, Ester si alzò straordinariamente in anticipo e impacchettò le sue cose rapidamente. Non aveva molta paura di lasciare la casa, inoltre suo cugino poteva farle visita ogni giorno perché lavorava come funzionario al palazzo.
Dopo la colazione, Ester, andò fuori e si sedette sotto un salice vicino, aspettando che venisse Mardocheo. Il sole splendeva luminoso ed Ester poteva sentire nell'aria l'odore dei fiori.
Mardocheo uscì presto dalla casa e la raggiunse sotto l'albero. “Devi aver pensato a quanto sia difficile,” disse sorridendole, “posso vederlo sul tuo volto.”
Ester annuì. “Spero che non mi scelgano come Regina.”
“Oh, Ester! So che sei spaventata da un cosi grande incarico. Non devi pregare per ciò che tu vuoi, ma per ciò che Dio vuole da te.” Ester lo guardò confusa. Mardocheo sospirò.
“Ciò che intendo è,” iniziò lentamente, “non puoi chiedere sempre ciò che vuoi, perché può darsi che non sia ciò che Dio vuole. Così devi chiederti ciò che Dio vuole.”
“Ma io non so cosa vuole Dio,” disse Ester alzandosi in piedi.
“Bene,” disse Mardocheo. “Tu prega: ‘Signore, io voglio qualsiasi cosa Tu voglia.’ Hai capito?”
“Io penso…Intendi che invece di dire, ‘Ti prego, Signore, non permettere che il Re scelga me come sua Regina,’ devo dire, ‘Signore, se tu vuoi che diventi Regina, allora sarò felice della Tua decisione’?” chiese Ester timidamente.
Mardocheo sedette vicino all'albero. “Si. Penso che tu abbia capito.” Si alzò e disse, “Ora andiamo al Palazzo del Re.”
Per Ester, l'anno sembrava passare molto, molto lentamente. Lei, naturalmente, si comportava nel modo migliore, ma non le piacevano tutti i trattamenti di bellezza che erano fatti a lei e alle altre ragazze.
Ester fu affidata alle cure di un uomo che si chiamava Hegai, il quale dava alle ragazze tutte le cose di cui avrebbero avuto bisogno durante quell'anno. Ester diventò sua amica, e lui la favoriva portandole cose speciali per lei e i suoi servi. Inoltre Hegai, mise Ester nella stanza migliore del Palazzo.
I giorni e i mesi passavano, Mardocheo fece ciò che aveva promesso e visitò Ester ogni giorno per vedere ciò che lei faceva. Il lungo procedimento di purificazione, gli olii e i profumi cominciarono ad annoiarla, ma Ester mantenne bene la promessa e si comportò con gioia in ogni cosa che faceva.
Dodici mesi passarono e giunse per Ester il tempo di incontrare il Re. Come Hegai condusse la meravigliosa ragazza attraverso il giardino del Palazzo del Re, i servi si fermarono ad ammirare la sua bellezza. Lo stesso successe all'interno del Palazzo del Re, e ad ognuno sembrava piacere Ester.
“Non avere paura,” le disse Hegai mentre continuavano a scendere lungo l'atrio decorato. “Lui sarà L'uomo più potente in tutta la Persia, ma non morde,”; ridacchiò.
Ester sorrise a quel commento e strattonò il lungo abito rosso che aveva indossato. “Va bene il mio look?” chiese timidamente.
“Semplicemente meraviglioso,” disse Hegai sorridendole.
Quando raggiunsero la stanza del trono, Ester prese un profondo respiro e chiuse gli occhi. Era meno spaventoso di quanto aveva immaginato. Camminò fino alla fine della stanza dove sedeva il Re Serse e si inginocchiò di fronte a lui.
“Signore,” pregava silenziosamente, “Sia fatta la tua volontà. Se devo diventare la Regina di quest'uomo, così sia.”

1. Pensa ad un giorno quando tua madre o tuo padre ti chiesero di andare in qualche posto dove tu odiavi andare. Come ti sei comportato?
2. Vuoi rompere terribilmente con i tuoi genitori?
3. Ne vale la pena?
4. Lo faresti comunque?
5. Non è meglio obbedire con gioia e andare dove loro ti hanno detto?
6. Onori Dio quando disobbedisci?

Dai a Satana un dito e diventerà il tuo dominatore.
